Combating Racism on the Range

After George Floyd was killed in late May, 2020, a group of activists on the Iron Range in northern Minnesota formed Voices for Ethnic and Multicultural Awareness, or VEMA, to bring to light the prejudices and racism that exists within their communities. In just over a year they’ve hosted rallies, protests, and community gatherings to help shift the conversation and start to make real change across the range.
